PPDC Report June 10
Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic Update
May 28 – June 4
The following diseases were identified in samples submitted to theUNL Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic (PPDC). Cool and wet conditions, along with sporadic storm events that contained hail, have led to the development of bacterial wilt diseases in corn as well as leaf anthracnose. Both of the pathogens responsible for these diseases typically prefer temperatures ~80° F and are not seen until later in the season. However, the unfavorable environmental conditions have led to plant stress which has weakened the crop and allowed for infection.
